Hello,

I'm stuck on installing VMware HealthAnalyzer 5.0.1 (Java APP) to my Window7 labtop.

I changed APP Server port to 8090, 81 instead of 8080(default), because of port conflict.

However, it could not start.

Database Server is running, but App Server is suspended on "Starting..."

What shall I do ?

Please refer the below and give me your advice.

Thanks in advance.

VMware HealthAnalyzer - Non sensible data collection

I have a customer that is me creating difficulties in using the tool, due to safety of collected data. This is a private bank with many information security policies.

I need an official document that can give him, ensuring that no sensitive information is collected by the tool. Has anyone ever been in a situation like this and has any tips and/or any official document to indicate me?

Thank you very much!

vmware vsphere health check report v5.1.0

Hi,

I'm currently using the vmware vsphere health check report v5.1.0 script. I switched from another perl script to this and the report provide much more information. There is one thing that don't seem to work properly though..

I currently have a failed disk in my server and the report is showing "unknown" status next to 3 disk / disk day. If I run the other script I have used in the past, I have 3 alerts in red clearly showing that something has failed. Would any of you know why it's showing as unknown instead of critical in the report?

Old Script

HealthAnalyzer 5.0.4

Hi, I'm using HealthAnalyzer 5.0.4 to analyze a vSphere 5.1 environment.

I have an issue with the creation of the report.

The documentation states:

To add your own observations to a best practice

Click the Observations tab in the Analysis Steps.

1. In the text window, type your observations about the conformance of this best practice to the customer’s environment.

2. Use the text editing icons to format the text. You can create an active link by selecting text and clicking the URL icon.

Note You can click the source editing mode icon to toggle between the display view and the source (XML) view of the text.

3. After you finish editing your text, click Save.

Your observations are included in the Health Check Report.

However, my observations are not included in the report.

All items where I have manually edited the Observations and then clicked Save, the observations are blank in the created report.

Anyone else observed this behaviour?

Health Analyzer with vSphere 6 fails - A runtime error occurred during collection

Did something change with vSphere 6 that breaks Health Analyzer?  I'm using the latest 5.0.4.1.  After starting a new project and adding the appropriate credentials in vCenter Server Discovery, it asks me for the resources to scan.  I check all the boxes and
click next.  It thinks about it for a moment and then returns - A runtime error occurred during collection.   Of course this worked just fine under vSphere 5.x.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

When running a check against View 6 I get "A service error occurred during collection"

I'm unable to perform a health check against the View 6 installation, can anybody shed light in how to resolve this problem.

Ready for Analysis

I have deployed 5.0.5 health analyzer in my customers environment, created a project and run through discovery.  it is now sitting there mocking me with a statement "Ready for Analysis".  now I may be having a moment, but I cannot see any where to move it from this stage to a analyzing stage.

I double click the Project name and nothing happens.

according to the documentation section 3.2.3 Managing Projects,  I should have a "Open | Edit | Export | Delete | Show Filter | Rerun Analysis | Upgrade Catalog (Greyed out) under Project explorer, however I am missing "Rerun Analysis | Upgrade Catalog"

Health Analyzer will not connect

I am running health analyzer 5.0.4.1.  When trying to connect to vcenter it says it cannot connect to target server.  I have tried fqdn and IP with no success.  I can ping the vcenter IP from the appliance.  Any ideas?

Pretty much blank documents generated by VHA-5.0.5-build-2859646-App

When I generated Word report from VHA-5.0.5-build-2859646-App, 2 out of 3 different project outputs generated pretty much blank below under the radar chart.

Is there any way to avoid the issue or know bug?

Any advice is much appreciated.

VHA 5.0.5 - Mac OS X - No Java

I have downloaded and extracted multiple versions of the health appliance to attempt to run the Java app on my Mac.  I have tried different Java versions and currently have the latest Java release installed on my Mac for security reasons - Java 8 U51 if I remember correctly.  When I launch the HealthAnalyzer.jar file I immediately get an error stating that I need to install a Java environment on my Mac to run the application but it IS installed.  The status window opens saying that the DB server and App server are starting but it never get past that point.  Am I missing a path statement or something when clicking on the icon?  Does it needs to be started from a terminal session with an appropriate Java path?  I just do not understand how the product can say it can be run on various Mac OS versions with Java but I cannot get the services to ever launch.

Hi,

What is the usage license for VHA? I do an engagement at a customer and deploy the VM, do I have to delete it before I leave site?

Thanks,

HealthAnalyzer can't connect to View 6.2.1

Hey all, I am getting my feet wet with HealthAnalyzer for an upcoming View assessment.  I am trying it in my lab environment which is running 6.2.1.  It worked fine for vCenter, but for View I get an error when attempting to connect - Unable to connect to target server.

Could this be related to the SSL changes in View? I tried re-enabling SSLv3 on a whim, but it didn't solve the issue.

Health Analyzer 5.0.6 - vsphere 5.5 - runtime error occurred

$

trying to run this in a 5.5 environment, tried the JAVA based and the appliance but get the same error message - A runtime error occured during collection when it is trying to collect on the hosts themselves. I am able to log into vcenter it shows that there are 3 hosts but never gets the information on the hosts. Could this is a single sign on issue? Not sure what else would be causing the issue. Tried allocating more memory to TomCat but still same error. Is there an location that I can try an older version of the HealthAnalyzer?

VMware HealthAnalyzer 5.0.4 is available.

This release supports the Virtualization Health Check Service Kit 1.2 (vSphere 5.x) & 6.3 (vSphere 4.x) and Desktop Health Check Service Kit 2.1 (View 5.x/6.x).

"A service error occurred during collection" when analyzing View environment

$

I'm trying to analyze a View 6.0 environment using the latest VHA build, 5.0.6.0 build 2982442. It gets to "Collection 20% complete - Collecting VM inventory" and sits there for a couple of minutes before failing with "A service error occurred". We increased the Java memory per the VHA guide to no avail. Logs are attached in case they are of any interest.

VHA 5.0.6 with View 5.3.1 - "Service Error Occurred"

I've seen multiple threads around the net on this and have tried all the memory, iscsi tweaks etc but I cannot get either of our View environments to pull successfully. One is View 5.3.1 and the other is 5.2.0 but both fail at 20% with the same error. I have tried to download older versions of VHA just to test and I cannot find active download links either for 5.0.5 or 5.0.4

I've also submitted a ticket to support as noted in other threads with no response.

Please help or supply older version download links for VHA. Thank you!
